Musiq Soulchild

Musiq Soulchild celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of his debut album Aijuswanaseing in 2015 and has captivated soul music lovers with tracks like “Just Friends (Sunny),” “Love,” “B.U.D.D.Y.” and “SoBeautiful” over the years. In 2013, we saw Musiq’s last solo album release, MusiqInTheMagiq, and while the Philly-bred singer has been performing across the country and recording tracks with the likes of Lil Jon Roberts, his son's mother Meelah (of 702 fame), Demetria McKinney and Syleena Johnson, we’ve been twiddling our thumbs waiting for him -- and not his alter egos -- to give us something to groove to.

Taking on creative monikers and personas, Musiq has explored his creative juices through his urban new age persona The Husel and the kinder, gentler pUrPlE wOnDaLuv. Despite the hardcore Auto-Tune musical styles of The Husel, we did get tHe eTeRnAl pEaCe EP, which was a beautiful seven-track project from his purple side that we still have on our playlists. While Musiq has been exploring different extensions of his brand and wading in the independent waters, we honestly just want to hear him sing in 2016 -- under the name we all know and love. -- Mercy
