Solange has stayed in the spotlight the past few years thanks to her unique style, elevator shenanigans (hi, Jay Z) and festival appearances. Despite owning Saint Records, running website SaintHeron.com, getting married and being an awesome mom, she’s left us wondering when we’d get a new album. The eclectic songstress gave us her EP True back in 2012, and we’ve been sitting at the edge of our seats waiting for a new album announcement. If you recall, she did tease us back in 2014 that she was sifting through 25 tracks and whittling them down to create her third album. Well, it’s 2016 now and we still have our hands out waiting for something to drop.
We last saw her performing Nina Simone's “To Be Young, Gifted and Black” with KING, Dev Hynes and Moses Sumney this summer, which indicated that her long-time collaborator Hynes was back in her good graces since their falling out a few years ago. Thanks to the social media gawds, it looks like our prayers have been answered because the Sol-Angel recently revealed on Instagram that she has been in the studio trying to wrap the new album. So while we’ve heard this song and dance before, it looks like 2016 may just be our year and we’re eager to jam with Solange once she’s good and ready to throw something new our way. -- Mercy
