Mad Satta Break Me Free [Bandcamp]
After wowing us with their 2014 debut, Comfort, Mad Satta could have easily rested on that album's laurels in 2015. Instead, they decided to release an EP entitled Break Me Free that found the band breaking loose on an eclectic four-song collection. Mad Satta touched on everything from '80s R&B ("Break Me Free") to contemporary nu-soul ("Fleeting" and "I Would") to classic soul ("Simpler Times"). A soulful thread is woven throughout the EP by lead singer Joanna Teters who has fast become one of our favorite voices. Break Me Free took us on a brief but satisfying musical journey and solidified Mad Satta's heavy rotation status. -- Butta
