In the lead up to their album Caracal, Disclosure seemed to hit us with a new track every month. While songs like “Holding On,” “Hourglass” and “Magnets” definitely got us ready to sweat it out on the dance floor, it was Kwabs’ collaboration with the duo, “Willing & Able,” that caught us completely off guard.
We’ve come to know British pop/soul phenom Kwabs for moving, thoughtful ballads like “Perfect Ruin,” but we had never heard him over something as kinetic as the groove that the Lawrence Brothers laid down for him. As well, the Disclosure boys slowed things down a bit to meet Kwabs halfway, resulting in an undeniable union of Kwabs’ fiery vocal and Disclosure’s shuffling rhythms. From the first percolating moments of the record to the repeated rise and climax of the verse and chorus, this was one song that was love at first spin. -- D-Money
