Austin-raised R&B songstress Mélat takes us into a dream world with her new music video for “Twenty Ten.” The song is off of her debut EP It Happens So Fast, which dropped last year via the singer's SoundCloud. “Twenty Ten” is a song about slipping into the dream of love, but Mélat shows us that dream can be both light and dark.

The music video is shot entirely inside of an apartment and is heavy with various mediums of symbolism and symbolic imagery. The slowed down distorted vocals at the beginning of the track, along with images of a candle burning and a clock ticking, usher in a dreamlike feel; you begin to feel like you're going to be separated from reality. The video then introduces a series of dark scenes that quickly cut from one subject to another. Time lapses and the visual carousel achieves Mélat's goal for the video. About the clip, she said in an interview with ESSENCE, “The video depicts this dreamlike feel. It jumps through multiple images quickly ignoring time, place, and chronology.” Despite the rapid changes in view, Mélat remains the center of the disjointed menagerie. While the video is dark, it still manages to be sexual and sensual like the relationship Mélat has with her lover in the song.

Mélat has yet to announce any upcoming shows or future musical projects that she's working on though she promised ESSENCE that fans should, “Expect shows in cities I haven’t performed in yet, collaborations with some amazing artists and producers, and all around more.” While we wait for Mélat to surprise us, enter a dream state and watch the video for “Twenty Ten” right here.
