D-Money: The chorus is trump tight, though. Everything except that “Black Bill Gates in the making” line. Why we gotta be the Black version of some successful white person. Why can’t we just be, Bey?!

Butta: I feel what you’re saying, but I don’t have a problem with her using Bill Gates’ name. It’s simply a recognizable reference to let people know the level that she’s trying to get her paper and influence up to. Although to many she’s already more influential than Bill Gates, which is a little scary.

D-Money: Eh, I guess. On that note, enough about the lyrical content. This video though? So much.

Butta: Yes, so, SO much. The imagery coupled with the song is what sets this whole powder keg off. In addition to her dropping this on a quiet, unassuming Saturday afternoon.

D-Money: And can we get into her rocking this antebellum streetwalker couture while sitting stately in a plantation? She better give me Gone With the Weave!

Butta: Gone With the WHAT? Bye.

D-Money: Don’t go! There’s so much more to unpack. Did you see baby Blue make a cameo?

Butta: My goodness, you couldn’t miss the child with that big beautiful afro. Which made the lyrics and the visual combine into quite a statement. If the next shot had been Jay’s nose to go with that Jackson 5 lyric? Bruh...

D-Money: I don’t think they make a lens wide enough to get that kinda close up.

Butta: Hype Williams coulda done it!

D-Money: Fish-eye to the rescue! But seriously, I’m surprised Jay didn’t turn up for a least a split second.

Butta: Right, with the song being a family affair and whatnot. Also surprised that Solange wasn’t in this. Although I did think one of Bey’s antebellum homies was Solo for a minute.

D-Money: Solo was too busy poppin’ off on music critics and shaking her thang at Mardi Gras. Her influence was felt nonetheless.
