D-Money: In every sense of the word. And judging by the Black Panther garb her dancers rocked at the Super Bowl, I think maybe (just maybe) Bey might finally be ready to put her music where her politics are. Time will tell, though.
Butta: Oh! My! God! Can we talk about the Beyoncé concert that was interrupted by that football game and her opening acts Coldplay and Bruno Mars?
D-Money: I wouldn’t say that Coldplay and Bruno were opening acts (especially since I like Coldplay...a lot), but Bey did make her presence felt. And that dance-off between Bruno and Bey was hot!
Butta: OK, fine. It wasn’t the Beyoncé Show, but damn near. Because much like Missy Elliott at Super Bowl 49 last year, Bey stole the halftime show this year off the strength of performing a one day-old song and with her dancers dressed as sexy ass Black Panthers. Talk about slaying! Then she added another layer with Super Bowl 50 being played in San Francisco, and the Black Panther Party being born around the way in Oakland also in 1966. Then on top of that, Bey showed love to King Michael with her costume bringing the Jackson 5 line full circle and tying it all together. I thought that Bruno & The They Can Get Its were doing something with their homage to MC Hammer, but Beyoncé took it to the next level. That was pure Black genius.
D-Money: And she announced her tour seconds later. Bey didn’t learn how to share the spotlight very well. LOL. If this next album cycle is anything like the last one, this should be interesting.
Butta: I’m surprised the album didn’t drop last night at the rate Beyoncé is going. Bey is like, “Eff your Vince Lombardi trophy!”
