Muhsinah Moves Forward With 'March'

Singer/songwriter/producer Muhsinah started off 2016 with a lofty goal to release an EP each month of the year. So far, she's delivered, with both January and February dropping in their respective months and keeping our heads nodding in the process. And now, she returns right on schedule with her March EP.

Like the previous EPs, Muhsinah keeps March short and sweet, with this one being the shortest so far at only three songs. She works her economy to her advantage, however. The set kicks off with a reprise of "Gorgeous" from the last EP, but this time around, she's re-dubbed it "Still Gorgeous" and kicked up the beat a few notches with knockin' production that sounds like it was borrowed from the late '80s. After that short and sweet intro-lude, we're dropped right into the next song, "Wake Up." It's a wavy ride with percussion, synths and skittering hi-hats propelling it forward. It's an ultimatum of sorts to a dozing lover who's sleeping on just how fly she is, but Muhsinah quickly reminds him that it's time for him to rise and shine before she's gone. She follows up that sentiment with the aptly named "Dope." Where "Wake Up" was telling her man to realize what he's got, "Dope" is detailing exactly what that is. Muhsinah flaunts her flyness easily here, reminding him that "I got everything you want" as electronic bass and snare knocks against clanging piano keys and synths.

All in all, Muhsinah continues to show and prove while leaving us looking forward to the musical gift we'll be receiving next month. While we anticipate that, stream "March" right here and pick it up for yourself on iTunes.
