Earlier this week, Big Sean and Jhené Aiko announced that they were joining forces as the super duo TWENTY88. Given their past collaborations such as "Beware" and "I Know," not to mention both artists' connection to No I.D., it makes sense and is a much welcome surprise. The project would explore both artists' experiences in love and relationships. However, besides some sexy photos, a few song snippets on social media and a bright orange wig, we really didn't know what a TWENTY88 was. With the album dropping on April 1st, we had to be sure someone wasn't fooling us. Thankfully it all came together beautifully on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where Big Sean and Jheneé Aiko brought TWENTY88 to life in front of a live studio audience.
Performing the second track on the TWENTY88 EP, "Selfish," the dynamic duo had undeniably chemistry, taking on the roles of confused lovers trying to reconcile their differences. At first they sat in the dark with their back to each other onstage, before standing up to face each other and even cuddling, while huge video screens changed from stark images to a vibrant waterfall of colors. If it wasn't for the big Samsung logo on each display screen, you might actually be able get into the dramatic performance.
Sean and Jhené's performance of "Selfish" definitely has our ears perked to find out what this TWENTY88 collaboration is all about. You can download the TWENTY88 EP on iTunes or stream it now exclusively on TIDAL.
