So, it looks like we're going to have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on Fantasia's upcoming album, The Definition Of..., as the set's been pushed back until July. While that's disappointing, especially with us heavily anticipating the raw soul the singer is sure to bring, she didn't leave us hanging completely. Instead, she's released another single from the project, "Sleeping With The One I Love," and it's sure to have you good and ready for what she has in store.
"Sleeping With The One I Love" could be considered a fitting follow up to "So Blue," as it finds the singer on the wrong side of right. The main that she has is good and good to her, but when it comes to the right time in the nighttime, she finds him to be a bit lacking. While she could try and make it work a little better with him, she instead decides to step out and meet her needs with a man who knows what he's doing. The scandalous subject matter is perfect for a blues song, so it's fitting that Fanny channels that feeling with a bluesy, dramatic song that would do Etta James proud. Thick bass and blues guitar provide the base while soaring strings and a tight horn section do the rest as the singer reaches down deep to make you feel this song deep in your spirit as she basically let's it be known that if getting her needs taken care of is wrong, she damn sure doesn't wanna be right.
