After tempting and teasing us for the better part of seven years, Maxwell finally returned to us with his latest single "Lake By the Ocean," the first release from his upcoming fifth album blackSUMMERS'night. And, just in case you doubted that he was sincere about the upcoming release, the singer has just offered up a new steamy music video to accompany the song that should leave no doubt that a new Maxwell album (and possible baby-making boom) is soon to come.
For the clip, the singer, who has familial ties in Haiti and Puerto Rico, went back to his Caribbean roots, filming the video in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The location allows Max to begin the video with a slight political statement about water, as we see the video's female lead going to a watering hole, in which some swim and others bathe their animals, to fill up her jug and then lug it back to her own dwelling. After we see her go through the routine of her day, including teaching a small class, she then hitches a ride to a small club, where Maxwell, dewy with sweat and rocking reflective shades, performs the romantic track. We're soon treated to steamy scenes of Max and the woman getting closer than close in the dark of a hotel room before taking their love affair outside into the islands waters. Steamy, indeed.
