It's been a good year to be Andra Day. The singer went from up-and-coming to having arrived on the strength of her debut album, Cheers To the Fall, and its arresting single "Rise Up." The song took on a life of its own, getting featured in several commercials and becoming a part of many campaigns. Because of the single's success, she was able to embark on a tour last year as the opener for rock-and-roller Lenny Kravitz and even got to make a Christmas-themed commercial with Stevie Wonder.
But it looks like Andra's days as an opener might be over, as she's announced that she's going on her first national tour as the headliner. Starting this November, Andra's appropriately name Cheers To The Fall Tour will find the singer traversing the American landscape from Cali to New York and many places in between (including Philly, Chicago, Indianapolis, D.C., Boston and Dallas) as she plays 18 dates through mid-December. And if you happen to be a Citi cardholder, you have early access to concert tickets through Citi's Private Pass program until June 23rd at 10:00 p.m. local time. More details can be found here. That's not the only news that Andra has going. "Rise Up" continues to stay relevant, snagging a spot in the latest trailer for slave revolt epic The Birth of a Nation. As well, Andra dedicated the song to the victims and families of the recent tragedy in Orlando while recording her appearance on the revered Austin City Limits music program. As if that's not enough, Andra will also be performing at ESPN's Sports Humanitarian of the Year Awards, which are set to air on the channel on July 15th at 7 p.m. EDT. Whoo, we're tired for her!
