Judith Hill returned to the Washington, DC area for a show at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on June 24th, and she brought her A game. That wasn't all that Hill brought to the stage, backed by The FAM, which included her mother on keys and her father on bass. This family affair was one funky good time with the singer and her band getting down to business on live renditions of "As Trains Go By," "Angel In the Dark," "Beautiful Life," "Cry, Cry, Cry" and more.

Judith's late mentor and producer Prince's influence and presence was felt all night long. "He lives on in the music, he lives in the songs," she said before singing the song "My People," which she co-wrote with him and covering his "3121." More stellar covers came throughout the night, including live versions of Sly and the Family Stone's "Hot Fun in the Summertime," Blackstreet's "No Diggity" and the George Gershwin standard "Summertime," which she blended with Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" for a big finish that had the audience on its feet and clapping wildly at the end of the night.
