The summer movie season is one of the highlights of the warmer months. In an effort to escape the heat, crowds flock to theaters to experience thrills, chills and the unimaginable. However, the summer of 2016 has left much to be desired, with moviegoers forced to endure tepid remakes, unwanted sequels and the uninspired. Ben-Hur, a remake of the Charlton Heston classic your grandma used to watch every Easter, doesn’t look like it’s going to be any different. However, while Morgan Freeman’s dreadlocks give us pause, Andra Day’s song from the soundtrack has our ears perked. The track, “The Only Way Out,” is a power ballad full of all the things we expect from summer blockbusters. Now we get to experience those same thrills and chills in the video for the track.
The video features Andra walking around the empty hall of a distressed building, smizing and emoting effortlessly. The clips of Andra are interspersed between scenes from the movie, with some of the most thrilling scenes matched with Andra’s most breathtaking vocals and the drums from the bombastic production.
It’s pretty much your standard video for a big Hollywood picture, with no surprises or special appearances from Hollywood actors wearing wig-hats. However, it's always nice to see our girl get her time in the spotlight.
