John Legend Is Living In The Moment On 'Love Me Now'

In the years since his last album, Love In The Future, John Legend has perhaps made more noise using his voice to bring awareness to the causes he supports (not to mention being a very vocal anti-Trump voice on social media). That time between then and now has brought him some career highs, including his massive hit "All of Me" and the GRAMMY Award and Oscar-winning collaboration with Common, "Glory." But John is never one to rest on his laurels, and he's gearing up to bring us yet another album in the near future. But first, the crooner brings us his brand new single "Love Me Now."

"Love Me Now" continues the evolution in John's style that we witnessed on Love In The Future, leaning more toward John's pop sensibilities than the R&B side we first learned to love. His skill at crafting a sentimental love song is still very much in tact, with tender touches here and there to pull at the heartstrings. "I don't know who's gonna kiss you when I'm gone / So I'm gonna love you now / Like it's all I have," he sings on the chorus like a man deep in love. Perhaps the biggest shift from his style though, is the song's production. While the melody is piano-based, an almost tribal rhythm and call-and-response ad-libs keep thing livelier than your typical John Legend ballad.
