The wait for new music from Kadija Kamara has finally ended with the release of her new single "Alright." Kamara is an artist whom we haven't heard from in a number of years -- three to be exact when she dropped the single "Loving From the Past" and its b-side "Groovin" in 2013. Time hasn't taken anything away from this talented UK songbird who returns stronger than ever with the redemptive "Alright," produced by Aussie Tony Hayden and featuring a retro rock and soul fusion.
To match the vintage vibe of the track, Kadija Kamara is serving up classic looks and styling in her music video for "Alright," which SoulBounce is delighted to world premiere. Kadija rocks a proud afro and the classic casual chic of a butterfly collar jumpsuit, fur-trimmed coat and a colorful striped blouse that make her look straight out of the 1970s. Filmed on location in London’s Regent Studios on the Isle of Wight, director Christian Brown's camera follows Kamara as she walks through a maze of pathways outside of what appears to be an abandoned building. Despite her sketchy surroundings, Kadija roams around unafraid (of getting her white jumpsuit dirty!) as the sun shines down on her and animated sketches fill the walls and ground with her every step. Scenes of her singing on a sun-drenched balcony and into her reflection in a sunburst-shaped bathroom mirror are cut in as she encourages the listener with lyrics like, "Through the storm, keep your feet on the ground / Keep moving on, keep your feet on the ground."
"Alright" is the first single from Kadija Kamara's forthcoming debut album, which we already cannot wait to get our hands on. There's no title or release date yet, but keep an eye on these pages for more information to come. In the meantime, watch Kadija Kamara in action and know that despite all that's going on right now in your life and in the world, everything will in fact be "Alright."
