Sangin’ soul diva supreme Sy Smith has found time in the midst of supporting GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Chris Botti's on his 56-show holiday residency in New York City to squeeze in a solo set of her own. NYC Bouncers can check out Sy on New Year's Eve at the legendary Blue Note for their Late Night Groove series for a show that she is calling #BlameItOnTheBoogie. If you are at all familiar with the way Sy handles the stage, this is undoubtedly the ultimate way to celebrate the New Year.
Affectionately referred to as an “underground soul unicorn” (a description that fits her perfectly, if you ask us), Sy will be performing original music from her four critically-acclaimed albums, and there’s no reason to resist that good soul clap/foot stomp combo as she puts her magic touch on a few covers in ways that only Sy Boogie can. She will be joined onstage with a band of amazing musicians including Richie Goods on bass, Lee Pearson II on drums, Faton Macula on guitar, Davis Whitfield on piano and SoulBounce family Nicholas Ryan Gant on vocals.
If you plan on bringing in the New Year in New York City, and if you know like we do, you need to make your way down to the Blue Note after the ball drops. Doors open at midnight, and Sy is sure to give fans every bit of everything when it's showtime at 12:30 a.m. Purchase your tickets on the Blue Note website, and be sure to check out Sy’s video ad for the show below.
