Mr Jukes & Alexandria Shed Some 'Tears'

Fresh off the heels of the release of his dual single "Angels/Your Love" featuring BJ The Chicago Kid, Mr Jukes is back with a slightly different sentiment. On “Tears” featuring Atlanta-based artist Alexandria, he recalls memories of sweet love turned sour. Over a rather melancholy track laced with solemn strings, woodwinds and strategically placed cymbal crashes, he moans, “I keep falling in love / You keep falling in trouble / I keep falling in love, with you.” Add in Alexandria’s pristine vocals and you’ll likely reach simultaneously for a bottle of wine and a box of Kleenex.

“Tears” is the second single from Mr Jukes' debut solo album God First, which is said to revive his long-standing interest in jazz, soul and funk, following his time as frontman for the English indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club. The project also allows Jukes to try his hand at taking on the roles of artist, composer, producer and sample-hound all at the same time. “I loved the challenge of writing songs for Bombay Bicycle Club," he says. "But as a naturally restless person, after the last album my mind wandered to ideas I couldn’t imagine doing within the band. On Mr Jukes I have the freedom to go right to the end of any idea I might have." Having that freedom seems to serve him quite well as fans, new and old, are liking what they are hearing. "Angels/Your Love" topped Spotify's Viral Charts in the U.K. and U.S., and has been a Radio 1 Hottest Record in the World.
