This Week In SoulBounce: Kendrick Lamar Rules The Charts, Beyoncé Keeps Giving Back, Aretha Franklin Is The Queen Of Petty & More

Aretha Franklin Gets Super Petty With Dionne Warwick...Via Fax

Hmm, maybe Patti LaHelle wasn't too far off with Got 2 B Real. Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin upped the petty ante this week when she notified the Associated Press — by fax — of the brewing tension she had with fellow legend Dionne Warwick. Why you may ask? Because during Whitney Houston's funeral over five years ago, Dionne called the "Respect" singer Whitney's godmother. Yes, really. "She blatantly lied on me ... fully well knowing what she was doing," she told the AP during a follow-up phone interview about the "libelous" statement. The animus was apparently stirred up once again when the divas ran into each other at the premiere for Clive Davis' doc Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Dionne tried to get a hug. "She said, 'Give me a hug.' I said, 'Oh hell no. You couldn't be serious,'" Aretha told AP. She continued, making remarks about whether or not she'd accept an apology, saying, "I don't care about her apology, at this point it isn't about an apology, it's about libel." Well damn. As for what Dionne has to say about all this, her representative kept it short and shady, saying, "She will not dignify a response to the statement made by Aretha Franklin." #AintNoShadeLikeOldSchoolShade #AFaxTho
