Jennifer Hudson attended NBCUniversal's Upfront earlier this week to perform a few hits from the 2006 film Dreamgirls. Our invite got lost in the mail, but at least we get this sneak peek of her rehearsal footage, and it is everything and more. With a flock of male dancers in tow, Jennifer lit up the stage for her entrance to the movie's uptempo track "One Night Only." She then slowed things down a bit with a riveting performance of "I'm Telling You I'm Not Going."
Staying true to her signature delivery of the song, made famous by her predecessor in the role of Effie White, Jennifer Holliday, Ms. Hudson took her time to hit the power notes, belting out the song as naturally as she breathes. With pin-dropping silence in the theater, you can hear every perfect note and the warm tones of Jennifer's voice that still gives chills.
Just last week the songstress was announced as a new coach on Season 13 of The Voice, which returns in the fall. She'll be swiveling in her red chair along with Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton. While we're waiting on more new music from the powerhouse singer who's currently promoting the single "Remember Me," we have this behind-the-scenes footage to play on repeat.
