Quincy Jones Claims He's Owed $30 Million From Michael Jackson's Estate
Quincy Jones might have had a great relationship with Michael Jackson, but with his estate, no so much. A case involving royalties that the music legend claims he's owed $30 million from the estate and Sony is currently underway in L.A. In the case, Jones has alleged elder abuse by the entities, saying that they've taken advantage of his age when it comes to paying him what they owe in royalties from Michael's three biggest-selling albums, Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. Jones believes that the label even went as far to remix hit singles like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Billie Jean" to block him from receiving royalties and his producers fee, breaching contracts that gave Jones first option to re-edit or alter the songs. David Moro, Sony's Vice President of Royalty audits testified that Jones actually was paid royalties but that a "joint venture" agreement precluded him from receiving other payments. “Mr. Jones is not a party to those agreements,” Moro said. “Mr. Jones has never been paid under those agreements.” Looks like this is a case to watch. #YallBetterPayQuincy
