Christmas 2017 may now be in the rearview mirror, but the holiday season isn't over just yet. There's still the dawning of a new year to commemorate, and many likely won't be taking their Christmas decorations down until mid-January (or later) anyway. Since we're still in a festive mood, Dru Hill is here help us celebrate the season with a music video for their single "Favorite Time of Year" taken from their EP Christmas In Baltimore. The surprise – and surprisingly good – holiday collection has been in heavy rotation since it was released in November. Group members Sisqo, Jazz, Nokio and Tao turned in exceptional vocal performances and the original songs on the EP are equally impressive.
For the "Favorite Time of Year" visual, Dru Hill show us what Christmas In Baltimore literally looks like. The fellas perform in front of a block of festively-decorated row houses lit up with lights. They're all bundled up and dressed in matching outfits as they execute their choreography. Sisqo is almost unrecognizable without his signature platinum hairdo showing and covered up by a knit cap, but we understand that salon appointments are hard to come by around the holidays. There are scenes of the Baltimore Inner Harbor area, children shaking the gift boxes under the tree, Dru's family and friends gathered together and good old Saint Nick even makes a guest appearance. For a holiday love song/slow jam we would have liked to seen some situations between lovers underneath the mistletoe, but we still love what they brought us and won't be returning this present to the store.
Dru Hill's Christmas In Baltimore served as the Baltimore-based band's first new music in seven years and as a comeback project of sorts in advance of their next studio album in 2018. We certainly can't wait to hear that album, but their Christmas EP has temporarily satisfied our need for new Dru and will be the gift that keeps on giving for many Christmases to come.
