Lion Babe Keeps The Party Going With Remixes For 'Rockets' & 'Hit The Ceiling'

Lion Babe has grown to be one of our favorite duos because of their inventive and fun take on R&B. They also have a habit of putting out straight up jams on a regular basis. We've already experienced their talents twice this year with their singles "Rockets" and "Hit The Ceiling." Now, as they work on their upcoming sophomore album, they've released a set of remixes for both tracks to keep the party going.

First up for the remix treatment is "Rockets," which gets remixes from mOma+Guy and Simen Sez. The two flips couldn't be more different, with the mOma+Guy mix bumping up the bpm and turning up the heat with a house-ready remix made to supercharge the dance floor. But just when you think it's straight-up house heat, they simmer things down with a bit trap-style drums on the bridge before cranking things back up by the chorus. Simon Sez opts to smooth things out with a piano-based refix that plays up the R&B feel of the island-tinged record, making it an ideal joint to make you nod your head or just simply chill out.

For "Hit The Ceiling," Zikomo and Kenny Dope get their hands on the track and take it even higher. Zikomo, who is one of our favorite remixers, imbues the track with an elastic funk thanks to a shuffling dance groove, a heavy-duty bass line and kicks that won't quit. Meanwhile, Kenny recreates the song into a soulful house stunner, complete with piano, four-on-the-floor rhythm and a shuffling groove that keeps it light, happy and just plain ol' fun.

Really, there's something for everybody with each of these remixes (not to mention the jammin' originals). The only thing that would make it even better is if Lion Babe announced a release date and title for their upcoming set. Until that happens, though, you can jam to the remixes below.
