Picturing Prince (list price $24.99) by his former art director Steve Parke helps to pull back the purple curtain on the private entertainer with many rare photographs and a foreword by Sheila E. Also opening up his archives and sharing many never-before-seen images is Afshin Shahidi, Prince's one-time cinematographer and personal photographer, in Prince: A Private View (list price $35) with a foreword written by Beyoncé. Author and TV producer/editor Duane Tudahl painstakingly compiled over 20 years of interviews and research to document the magic of Prince and the Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions: 1983 and 1984 (list price $38), the first book in a series chronicling P's studio sessions, with The Roots' drummer Questlove contributing the foreword. With the effort, detail and care put into these projects, this new crop of Prince literature will make lit gifts for any and every Prince fan. — Butta
