SZA Drops By 'Saturday Night Live' For 'The Weekend' & Gives Them 'Love Galore'

It's safe to say that 2017 has been pretty good to SZA. Not only did her debut, CTRL, bow in the top three of the Billboard album charts upon its June release, but it has spawned two platinum singles, "Love Galore" and "The Weekend," and landed her several GRAMMY nominations, including one in the coveted Best New Artist category. Seeing as the year's been pretty good to her, it's only right that she take a victory lap by making her first appearance on the Saturday Night Live stage.

The singer first graced the stage with a revised take on "The Weekend," which found her rocking eccentric fashions and incorporating three live instrumentalists on strings and a small choir into the track. The added flourishes made things interesting without taking away too much from the performance, which was her strongest of the night. By her second song, a completely reimagined version of "Love Galore," her nerves were starting to show. However, despite that, she managed to deliver an interesting performance of the track, enhanced by the inclusion of the choir and the addition of the song's much-talked-about "lost" verse, which SZA included in lieu of Travis $cott's rap.

It was a pretty impressive first SNL outing for the songstress, and we can only hope that SZA's confidence on stage only grows as her star continues to rise. If you missed SNL this weekend, check out her performances below.
