There's always three sides to every story: his, hers and the truth. In the case of Musiq Soulchild and Marsha Ambrosius, however, we get two sides through song with their latest collaboration "For Better For Worse." The new track features the two going toe to soulful toe, exchanging witty quips like a couple in turmoil. The single ultimately illustrates a long-term relationship where things are a little too familiar and more than real.
The mid-tempo track has the two crooning to get their sides heard. "Speak your mind / Don't assume that I can read your mind / We both said that we would leave behind/ What's in the past to give us peace of mind / But here's a piece of mine," sings Musiq. Marsha quickly cuts in, singing, "I hate when you leave the toilet seat up / You so selfish." While she airs out his dirty laundry, they both express their love and frustration in the hook of the track: "For better, for worse/ Even when you get on my nerves, baby / All the love you deserve / Don't get no better or worse / And it better be worth it, baby / For better, for worse."
The duo is used to keeping it real since they also collaborated on the title track for Musiq's 2017 project, Feel The Real. We're here for the duet and hope they decided to get back in the studio for part two. While it looks like Musiq is in the studio, Marsha —along with DJ Aktive — just showed us what that "90's Love" looks like in a recent video. We're just hoping all these new collaborations means more new music.
