Liberian Artist Accuses Kendrick Lamar Of Stealing Artwork For 'All The Stars' Video

All things Black Panther are indeed hot right now, but there's at least one person not fanning those flames. Artist Lina Iris Viktor has issues with the video for the soundtrack's lead single "All The Stars." She claims that the Kendrick Lamar and SZA track's video borrows heavily from her gold-on-black "Constellation" series — and does so without her permission. The artists says that the clip "incorporates not just the immediately-identifiable and unique look of her work, but also many of the specific copyrightable elements in the ‘Constellations’ series of paintings, including stylized motifs of mythical animals, gilded geometric forms on a black background, and distinctively textured areas and patterns, arrayed in a grid-like arrangement of forms.” We really hope that this is just a case of oversight and can be rectified quickly, as everyone involved in this directly and indirectly deserves to shine. #WereRootingForEverybody
