NPR Music Launches 2018 'Tiny Desk Contest'

If you're a fan of NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert series like we are, then you'll likely lose control and jump for joy because they just launched their 2018 Tiny Desk Contest. Last year, New Orleans-bred outfit Tank and the Bangas beat out several acts to win the contest, along with our hearts and our ears. Since then, the band has been on a whirlwind international tour and even headlined NPR Music's 10-year anniversary party. Since 2014, the contest has churned out other notable winners, such as GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter Fantastic Negrito and violinist Gaelynn Lea.

According to the Tiny Desk Contest rules, if you create music and have been itching to perform behind Bob Boilen's literally tiny desk, then this opportunity is for you. The contest started on February 20th and will accept entries until March 25th at 11.59 p.m. EST. You can already check out their first submission to see how the competition looks this year. Judging the many entries that we're sure are rolling in are electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso, singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno, Tank and the Bangas lead singer Tarriona "Tank" Ball and some members of the NPR team. The NPR Music team also joined forces with some dynamic hedgehogs – Yung Hedge, Edgehog and H. Hog & The Grumps  to promote the contest. For kicks and giggles, you can find extended videos of the furry friends on the NPR Music Facebook page.

If you're actually interested in putting your name in the Tiny Desk Concert pot, you can find all the rules on their website. Watch the promo video for the contest below, and then shoot your musical shot.
