There's Absolutely Nothing 'Wrong' With DJ A1's Anderson .Paak Flip

Anderson .Paak might be working on a new joint (which we can't wait to hear), but that hasn't stopped us from jamming Malibu like it's going out of style. Of course, when you're wearing a record out, it's helpful when there's an alternate version or remix of a track to make it feel like new again. Enter DJ A1. We've enjoyed more than a few of his flips of tracks both old and new. Now, he's set his sights on AP, flipping his club-ready jam "Am I Wrong" and giving it an altogether different sheen.

Anderson's original, produced by Pomo and featuring ScHoolboy Q, was an updated take on '80s boogie filled with brash synthesizers, horns and AP's signature rasp. A1 takes some of that, though he chills it out a bit with a more subdued feel. The same chords are there to guide the way, but the decision to use a synth bass that bubbles and rolls changes the feel of the song, as does omitting the synth and horn flourishes. In fact, the only embellishments here are layered piano chords and the occasional sparkling flourish. Basically, A1 takes the song from nightclubbing to late-night hang session quite effortlessly.
