Craig David came back swinging following his lengthy hiatus on the scene from 2010 through 2016. After delivering a solid album with 2016's Following My Intuition, he returned once again this year with another strong effort, The Time Is Now, which American audiences probably know most for the Kaytranada-produced single "In The Moment." Another magical (no pun intended) moment from his most recent set is the album's first track, "Magic." It's a highly danceable number with a focus on love where he literally spells out why his woman is the bee's knees. He translates the song's upbeat charm into the music video for the track that's simple yet effective in getting its point across.
In the clip, we see Craig standing on a soundstage that appears gray. While that might seem rather, well, boring, he manages to light it up with his boyish charm and good looks (and the pulsing beat of the track, of course). But just when we think that's all we're gonna get, the camera shifts to a team of five female dancers wearing gold jackets. The ladies cut a mean step to the song, eventually showing their backs to the camera and revealing that the backs of the jackets spell out "MAGIC" just like Craig does in the song. Amid all this, we also get an appearance by rapper Yxng Bane, who spits his guest verse as the set is lit a vibrant red. There are not a lot of bells or whistles to the video for "Magic," but honestly it's entertaining enough that it doesn't need it.
