The Dangerfeel Newbies, Sabor! Brass Band & Tajh Abdulsamad Add A New Orleans Spin To Ralph Tresvant's 'Sensitivity'

The Atlanta-based trio comprised of Jamal Ahmad, Mark Angel and Darren “DJ” Wagner, collectively known as The Dangerfeel Newbies, mark their return with the first single from their much-anticipated second album. This time they kick their signature blend of blues, jazz, funk, hip-hop and house music up a few notches by putting an unexpected yet genius spin on an R&B classic. The talented threesome set their sights on Ralph Tresvant’s solo debut single “Sensitivity” and joined forces with the smokin’ Sabor! Brass Band for some New Orleans-style second line goodness. The vibrant track is topped off with smooth vocals from Tajh Abdulsamad of the '80s/'90s quartet The Boys.

This rework is like nothing you’ve heard. From the soothing groove of the original, the track is transformed into a lively and almost celebratory number, making it impossible to keep still. The tune opens with rousing hand-claps just before the majestic horns enter and confirm that, yes, it’s time to get on up. Given the mastery of the original, it was admittedly hard to imagine such a dynamic and spirited mash-up of this kind, but we stand corrected. Their unique spin is utter brilliance and we can’t wait to hear more.

Get your entire life and give The Dangerfeel Newbies’ reinterpretation of Ralph Tresvant’s “Sensitivity” featuring The Sabor! Brass Band and Tajh Abdulsamad a spin below. Though there’s no word on when we can expect the follow-up album to their debut project Hariet (a noted honorable mention on our Hot 16: Best Albums of 2014 list)we wait with bated breath and hope they give us more of their brand of soulful artistry to add to our summer ’18 playlist.
