It seems like Big Freedia is everywhere these days. As many mainstream pop stars are incorporating bounce into their formula, they're all turning to queen diva herself to add a dash of authenticity to the mix. Freedia's eclectic spirit can currently be found in Drake's current chart-toppers, with her voice appearing on "Nice For What" and a high profile cameo in the video for his viral track "In My Feelings." Taking advantage of that momentum, Freedia's decided to give us some of her own material to bounce to with the video for her latest single "Karaoke."
The track, lifted from her 3rd Ward Bounce EP, is a collaboration between Freedia and rapper-singer Lizzo (which is a combination that was just begging to happen). It finds the two encouraging everyone to bask in their own shine and sing it out for everyone to here. The video captures the spontaneous nature of its titular activity, with scenes of everyday folks singing out on stage and partying it up with abandon. When it comes to Freedia and Lizzo, though, the twosome are showcased soaking in the sun on the beach and enjoying ocean breezes. But don't get it twisted, they're still gonna pop and drop like their lives depend on it — which is exactly what they do at a lifeguard station, on some beached rocks and even while walking along the tide. It always damn near impossible not to have a good time when watching and listening to Freedia and this time is no exception.
