Prince's Family Sues Doctor Who Treated Him Before His Death

There has been quite a bit of legal action in the years since Prince's untimely passing, and there looks to be more to come. The most recent lawsuit involves Prince's family and Dr. Michael Schulenberg. They claim that Dr. Schulenberg, who prescribed pain killers to Prince prior to his death, is partly responsible for his passing because he had the opportunity to diagnose the singer's addiction and failed to do so. "He failed to appropriately evaluate, diagnose, treat and counsel Prince for his recognizable opioid addiction, and further failed to take appropriate and reasonable steps to prevent the foreseeably fatal result of that addiction," the lawsuit claims. “These departures from the standard of acceptable medical practice had a substantial part in bringing about Prince’s death.” The family is seeking upwards of $50,000 in the suit, which Schulenberg's lawyers say has no merit. #GettingLitigiousWithIt
