Donald Glover Accuses Former Label Of Royalty Theft
According to Donald Glover his musical alter ego Childish Gambino's former label Glassnote Record owes him $700,000 in royalties. Though the label asserts that it is entitled to half of the royalties from Glover's work while signed to them, he disagrees. According to court documents, he plans to countersue the company claiming in court documents that "Glassnote’s multiple breaches under the License Agreement concern, among other things, the taking of excess distribution fees, underreporting of international revenues, deduction of excess producer royalties, underreporting of merchandise sales, and undocumented manufacturing expense charges." The case has been brewing all summer and looks like it will get more contentious as it goes on. Luckily Glover signed to RCA earlier this year, so it shouldn't affect his ability to drop new music.
