Emily King Is Back To 'Remind' Us Of Her Talented Ways

Emily King made us flip when she released her sophomore effort The Switch (and its deluxe edition) a few years back. While the quality of that project plus a few loosies was enough to hold us over, we've been looking around in want of newness from the talented singer-songwriter. Emily must've sensed our need because she's back with promises of a new album at the top of next year and lead single "Remind Me."

"Remind Me" is right in Emily's pocket, offering up the sunny, pop-infused R&B that's become her signature. The track brims with warm piano chords and guitar licks that perfectly frame her vocal. They're soon backed by a propulsive synth bass line, simple drums and synth flourishes that add an unexpected head-nodding quality. With all that going on, Emily's voice finds a tender melody as she sings about a feeling she almost forgot.

"Been without it for so long / Forgot what it feels like," she sings. "Been in the darkness 'til you came along / Showed me the daylight." While she can't shake or describe it in exact words, she does know what it feels like: exactly what she's been missing. It's a feeling any Emily King fan can relate to, as this one feels like a bit of summer on an otherwise chilly day.

Though she hasn't given us a title or exact release date, we can expect Emily's newest project to arrive sometime in February. Feel free to join us in listening to "Remind Me" on repeat until then.
