Just last month, Anderson .Paak's touring band Free Nationals teamed up with Daniel Caesar and the Unknown Mortal Orchestra to deliver their groovy lead single "Beauty & Essex." Now that we've been hooked on the track for a few weeks, they dropped off a colorful set of visuals featuring the band, Caesar, UMO and.Paak for your viewing pleasure. The Scott Lazer-directed video is as beautiful as it is confusing, with visual elements that are just as stunning as they are pleasantly random.
Taking an artsy approach, the video starts with Daniel singing in front of solid color backgrounds. Free Nationals play under plastic sheeting billowing in the wind. Meanwhile, Caesar has a rotation of beautiful models who appear in different scenes with the crooner, making him look just as smooth as the song sounds. The clip also includes scenes with bubble wrap, a tomato, packing tape, a random goldfish and more shots of Free Nationals getting it in once the plastic blows away. When we finally get a look of Anderson, he's smiling wide and looking like he's there just happy to support his crew.
As Free Nationals get ready for their self-titled debut, we're confident that they'll deliver more dope singles and additional shenanigans in their videos. The upcoming album is set to feature appearances from Syd, Kali Uchis, late rapper Mac Miller and more. While we wait for word, get wrapped up in the video for "Beauty & Essex" right here.
