Hiatus Kaiyote's Nai Palm & Bender Cover Curtis Mayfield's 'The Makings Of You' Live From Her Hospital Bed

F**K CANCER! Now that we've got that out the way, Nai Palm, lead singer of Hiatus Kaiyote, revealed back in October that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Just last week, the songstress had surgery to remove her right breast in an attempt to save her life. Like a true survivor, she decided to lift her own spirits by collaborating with HK band mate Bender on an acoustic version of Curtis Mayfield's "The Makings Of You." Wrapped in bandages adorned with pins, the songstress effortlessly delivered pitch-perfect vocals with a view of the sun setting through the window.

Nai Palm and her legion of friends and family made sure she was right at home in her hospital room, decorated with musical memorabilia, flowers and plush toys. You can't tell if Nai is in pain as the rendition of the track is just as warm as the outpouring of love she's received online. On social media, Nai Palm said about picking the track, "'The Makings Of You' has been such a savior to my diagnosis sanity, and was the first thing I wanted to sing as soon as my body could handle it."

Nai released her solo debut, Needle Paw, last year and in August she dropped a video for the single "Crossfire." She also contributed to Drake's album Scorpion on the track "Is There More." Until she returns to the concert stage, watch this effortless bedside performance from Nai Palm, and be sure to send her positive vibes during her healing journey.
