Since its inception, the Broccoli City Festival has aimed to make a difference while also bringing music's best and brightest to the D.C. area to commemorate Earth Day. This year is no different with the announcement of the 2019 lineup, along with plans of the expanded two-day conference for Broccoli City Weekend 2019. To help drive home their mission, organizers have tapped Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne to headline the outdoor event on April 27th.
Other performers on the bill include a trio of R&B's brightest stars – 6LACK, Ella Mai and Teyana Taylor – on hand for the festivities. "State of the Culture" host Scottie Beam, media personality Rodney Rikai and DMV cool kids Rock Creek Social Club are set to serve as the music festival's hosts.
This year's festival has been expanded to include BroccoliCon, a two-day conference that will feature leaders from the urban community, in addition to a 5k run and fitness festival. "Our top priority is making sure that as we continue to grow and evolve, we remain accessible to our community,” Broccoli City founder Brandon McEachern said in a statement. Other events on the schedule include panels, workshops, interactive discussions and one-on-one interviews. Speakers are set to include Endeavor chief marketing officer Bozama Saint John, Quality Control Music's Kevin "Coach K" Lee, Capitol Music Group EVP Ethiopia Habtermariam, LiveNation Urban president Shawn Gee, BET's Jeanine Liburd and Capitol Music Group SVP, Global Creative Amber Grimes.
