JAY-Z & Meek Mill Launch Criminal Justice Reform Organization

Speaking of JAY-Z, he's been a big advocate for rapper Meek Mill, whose experiences with the criminal justice system have sparked long-needed debate about how the system treats people of color and turned the rapper into an activist. Now he's taking things a step further, linking up with big homie Jay to form an organization dedicated to criminal justice reform. The two have started the REFORM Alliance, which aims to reduce the number of people serving unjust sentences for parole and probation violations. Joining the rappers in the organization are Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, philanthropic investor Clara Wu Tsai and a few others. The collective has pledged $50 million to launch the organization and hired Van Jones to be its CEO. "I have spent my entire adult life preparing myself to help lead an initiative of this magnitude," Jones said. "I'm looking forward to working with this powerful group of founders to disrupt the status quo and shift the criminal justice system landscape for generations to come." #FixTheSystem
