Philly Gives Meek Mill His Own Day
He might be a rap star, but Meek Mill is becoming the public face of the criminal justice reform movement after the story of his conviction and treatment by the criminal justice system gained traction. Now, Meek is getting shown love and support from his hometown. Philadelphia has designated March 14th as Meek Mill Day, making the declaration with the rapper on hand to receive the honor. "The one time that my City of Philadelphia showed me support was the one time I came out of prison and I want to show the support back and do it for the people that actually stood up for me," the rapper said of the honor. "That means a lot." In addition to his own day, a state-level proclamation was also made in Pennsylvania, making March 15th through March 17th Meek Mill Weekend.
