This Week In SoulBounce: Tyrese To Bring Teddy Pendergrass' Life Story To The Big Screen, Will Smith Launches Risky New Series, R. Kelly Bailed Out By Daycare Worker & More

Newly Announced Teddy Pendergrass Biopic Will Star Tyrese

From his humble beginnings as part of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes to his sexually charged ladies' man persona and the car accident that would leave him paralyzed, Teddy Pendergrass lived a very interesting and tumultuous life. We'll get to see just how interesting now that Warner Bros. has optioned the "Turn Off The Lights" singer's life story for the big screen. The deal was announced this week, with Lee Daniels, the singer's widow Joan Pendergrass and Tyrese Gibson signing on as producers. Tyrese will also star as the soul man, a role he once said Pendergrass told him he wanted him to have. "I am honored to take this journey… this is the role that I feel I was born to play," he said in a statement. "Teddy Pendergrass embraced me and before he passed put the responsibility on my shoulders to tell his story. Being here in this time and in this space and moment with Lee Daniels, Donald De Line, Little Marvin and Warner Bros is an answered prayer. Teddy, I just hope we make you, your wife and family proud… Here we go!!" There's no word yet on when production on the film will begin, but Tyrese has two projects set to film soon, so it will more than likely be after those are completed. #WereReadyForTeddy
