Jussie Smollett Handed 16 Felony Indictments
Elsewhere in Chicago, things just got a whole lot worse for Empire star Jussie Smollett. After being charged with felony disorderly conduct last month for allegedly filing a false report, he has been indicted on 16 more felony counts according to new reports. It's unclear what exactly the additional 16 charges are for (other than to possibly make an example of the actor/singer), but Jussie's attorneys maintain his innocence. "This redundant and vindictive indictment is nothing more than a desperate attempt to make headlines in order to distract from the internal investigation launched to investigate the outrageous leaking of false information by the Chicago Police Department and the shameless and illegal invasion of Jussie's privacy in tampering with his medical records," his attorney Mark Geragos said. Speaking of the numerous leaks and medical records tampering, an internal investigation is also ongoing in the Chicago Police Department to determine the source of the leaks and almost 50 employees at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital were fired for accessing the actor's records.
