Teyana Taylor Brings 'Soul Train' To 'Ellen' With 'Issues/Hold On' Performance

Teyana Taylor kept the throwback spirit of her music video for "Issues/Hold On" alive in her musical performance today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Instead of continuing the dramatic narrative from the visual, however, Teyana switched things up with a '70s Soul Train-inspired performance that was a stone gas, honey.

Ellen DeGeneres' co-host/DJ/dancer Twitch introduced Teyana dressed in his finest afro wig and polyester suit that looked straight outta Don Cornelius' closet. His impression of the legendary host was spot-on and so was the custom-built set that literally transformed Ellen into Soul Train. Teyana served disco diva realness dressed in a curve-hugging, gold bell-bottom jumpsuit and floor-length cape with long, wavy curls cascading past her shoulders. She looked the part and sounded it, too, as she sang "Issues/Hold On" backed by her live band and three equally diva-licious background singers.

No Soul Train recreation is complete without dancers, and Teyena brought a few along with her. The coupled-up dancers represented the 1970s to the fullest with their funky moves and fashions. Toward the end of the performance, Twitch Cornelius reappeared to kick off the Soul Train line and Teyana followed suit. There to meet her at the end of the Soul line was Ellen who joined the singer to do The Bump. DeGeneres later made Teyana's debut on her stage even more special when she presented her with a gold record for "Gonna Love Me."
