Mary J. Blige & Nas Are 'Thriving' And Want You To Do The Same

Mary J. Blige and Nas add another song to their joint discography with the release of the highly anticipated track "Thriving." Their latest collabo finds the pair who've grown up and glown up together since the '90s proudly singing and rapping about living their best lives and encouraging every listener within earshot to do the same.

"Hold my crown up to the sky / Hold your crown up to the sky," Mary declares on the first verse, stepping into her queendom and commanding everyone to take her lead. Blige is not only a queen, but she's a survivor who's made it through many trials and tribulations and is standing taller than ever in song and in real life. "No, we're not just surviving / Yeah, we're thriving over here," she sings on the chorus referencing her booked, busy and blessed status. Nas chimes in toward the end of MJB's second verse, spitting the words "Unbreakable!" and "Unfadeable!" before launching into his bars. "We're here for a good time, not a long time," he begins his hot 16 then proceeds to detail his personal and professional transformation from Nasty Nas to Nasir.

"Thriving" is inspirational and motivational, even if the sample-heavy, hip-hop track isn't exactly the bop we were hoping it would be. Sonically, the song is no "Love Is All We Need" – which still holds the title as their best collaboration – but the duo delivers a word for all who need the nudge to get up, get out and get something.

In addition to "Thriving," expect to hear and see more from Queen Mary and King Nas when they co-headline The Royalty Tour this summer.
