B.o.B Is Down To Get Down On 'Magic Number'

For someone who claimed to be leaving the rap game after dropping his purported final album NAGA last year, B.o.B sure seems to really love releasing singles and videos. Just this past April he channeled Coming To America with his single "Soul Glo." Now Bobby is back again, this time with his new single and video "Magic Number."

The song is mainly based on a sample of mellow Schoolhouse Rock song "3 Is The Magic Number." However, as wholesome as that song is, B.o.B goes in a much dirtier direction. For him, three is for threesome and he's all about that. To that effect, he layers several other recognizable samples (including BBD's "Poison," LeVert's "Cassanova" and an interpolation of Khia's seminal club banger "My Neck, My Back") to create a raunchy rhyme about the group activity. As for the video, he also borrows the kid-friendly Schoolhouse Rock and makes it more adult. From revealing the song's blushworthy lyrics in cartoon fonts to animations that leave very little to the imagination, he gets his point across. All in all, it's a fun exercise that also shows that, though he's an unapologetic flat-earther, B.o.B. is still a pretty gifted MC with a good sense of humor.
