Musiq Soulchild Introduces Us To Lumi Trice With Debut Single 'Same Way'

From his experimental alter egos to his exercising his acting chops on stage, Musiq Soulchild has proven that he likes to mix things up every few years and keep his fans guessing. We're all for flexing your creative muscles, and the Philly singer is continuing to do just that with his newest venture – a trio called Lumi Trice, which also features David Luke and A-Lex. They began dropping hints of the collaboration late last year, and now they've released their debut single "Same Way."

Jazzy piano chords keep the vibe smooth and sultry while stuttering beats and hi-hats give it a bit of swag. Musiq may be the draw, but the fellas have great chemistry on wax, as their voices harmonize and flow seamlessly throughout the track, which is produced by Mr. Luke. As an interesting bonus, Georgia-bred rapper Cantrell delivers smoky bars over a sultry synth arrangement reminiscent of the outro on Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love."

While we do miss hearing Musiq on the solo front, we're definitely loving what Lumi Trice is bringing to the table. Stream the track below, add "Same Way" to your playlist, and follow the group on Instagram and Twitter for updates on their debut album Dear Lumi.
