Back in February, real hip-hop heads were elated when legendary rap duo Smif-N-Wessun released their first album in nearly eight years. Marking their 25-year run in the rap game, Tek and Steele tapped some of the industry’s finest for their latest album entitled, The All. Entirely produced by super-producer 9th Wonder and The Soul Council, the 12-track project features the likes of Raekwon, Rick Ross and Rapsody.
Following the release of the lead single "Let It Go," the Brooklyn natives recently dropped the breezy track “Ocean Drive” featuring Philly’s own Musiq Soulchild just in time for the summer. They take a break from their beloved Bucktown and head down to South Beach for some much-needed rest and relaxation. While they note the importance of handling business, they reveal a softer side as they speak of spending time with their lady and taking moments to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Musiq compliments the track perfectly as he sings, “Floatin' in the breeze and the palm trees (Palm trees) / I got her like she got me (Like she got me) / She my number one rider (Rider) / Loyal 'til the end, soul survivor (Soul survivor) / What a time to be alive (Uh) / Top down (Top down) doin' 25 on Ocean Drive.”
The Lisa “Cynical” Smith-directed visual has us ready to book a flight to Miami with its gorgeous captures of the South Beach oceanfront and skyline. You can almost feel the warm breeze as we watch them stunt in the drop-top and stroll along the shoreline. We live vicariously through our trio until they are approached by Miami’s finest while cruising along Ocean Drive. Thankfully, no drama ensues, as the officers are fans and the fellas continue on to enjoy their evening.
