Gallant Helps Tia Ray Learn To 'Trust' In Love

It's been a busy 2019 for Gallant. The DMV-bred singer has been putting the finishing touches on his Ology follow-up and giving us previews like "Sharpest Edges" and "Crimes" to let us know it's real. But he's also spent a good amount of time lending his glass-shattering vocals to some dope projects, collaborating with artists like Adrian Younge and Salaam Remi. His latest feature is on Tia Ray's "Trust Myself," a partnership we definitely didn't see coming, but we're oh so glad it's here.

Ms. Ray has been generating serious buzz for the past few years in her homeland, but her 2018 project TIARA was a breakthrough success that helped introduce her Mandopop-soul to a more global audience. The album featured a double-whammy collabo with Kehlani (an English and Mandarin version of the Kehlani-penned ballad, "Just My Luck"). Now as she moves forward with her next project, there's no doubt she'll repeat her crossover success and enlarge her fanbase with this Gallant duet.

The sultry groove addresses relationship issues, centering on the question, "If I can’t trust myself with love, then how am I supposed to trust somebody else with love?" Tia's slinky vocals are soulful and penetrating, while Gallant maintains his falsetto swag. Directed by Miles & AJ, the stunning visuals are as captivating as the sonant interplay between the artists. Their musical chemistry ensures nothing is lost in translation. We especially love the behind-the-scenes peeks featured throughout the clip, a playful wink that enhanced the visual without dulling its shine.

Rumor has it that there's a Mandarin version of the track as well. But before you go looking to critique Gallant's grasp of the language, scroll down and enjoy the English version right here. While "Trust Myself" is currently available for download, be sure to follow Tia Ray on Instagram to see what's next for the talented artist. Meanwhile, visit Gallant's website to keep up with the latest and grab your tickets to see him as the opening act for Sabrina Claudio's Truth Is Tour starting in September.
