Lil Nas X Comes Out For Pride
In this day and age, we encourage everyone to live their best lives and be their most authentic selves. "Old Town Road" rapper Lil Nas X took that advice to heart this past Pride weekend when he officially (though cryptically) came out as gay to his fans. "Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to 'c7osure,'" he wrote on Twitter. While that left a few fans a bit confused, he more than confirmed it in no uncertain terms while appearing on BBC Breakfast and revealing that it was something he never saw himself doing. "It’s something I was considering never doing, ever. Taking it to the grave or something," he explained. "But I don’t wanna live my entire life — especially how I got to where I’m at — not doing what I wanna do… [I’m hoping fans] will feel more comfortable, pretty much. Especially in the country and hip-hop communities, which both songs combine, it’s not really accepted in either." We don't think he'll have to worry about him losing any fans, as the outpouring of support has been pretty strong, with some even vowing to protect the young upstart at all costs. #ProudAF
