SoulBounce exists to recognize, respect and represent the past, present and future of soul and R&B music, but there some other movements that we get behind, too. As a Black woman-owned business, we make sure to support other sistas out here doing it for themselves – including independent artists who are, in fact, small business owners. Another movement we're down with is the celebration of natural hair. Many of our favorite artists proudly wear naturals in a myriad of styles, and everyone on staff at SoulBounce currently rocks their natural curls. In an effort to bring all of the above together, we have decided to do something cool in our community for our next event.
Combining music, Black-women owned businesses and natural hair, SoulBounce and Curl Theory Salon invite all DMV soul and R&B lovers and naturalistas to the inaugural Soul Salon on Friday, September 20th featuring Cecily. The singer/songwriter will be our special musical guest, and she'll be on hand to perform selections from her recently released EP, Awakening, Pt. 1, during a live acoustic set. In addition to Cecily's performance, there will be eclectic soul sounds all evening, natural hair styling demos featuring Curl Theory products, giveaways and a Shop @ SoulBounce pop-up shop.
So if you're looking for something to do after work on Friday night with good music, good times and good opportunities to #BuyBlack, we've got you covered. Let your soul glow and come through with your curls, coils, kinks, waves, blow outs, braids, locs, fros – or however you wear your hair – from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Curl Theory Salon located in Bowie Town Center in Bowie, MD. Admission to the Soul Salon is free with RSVP on Eventbrite or Facebook.
